Hanna Ruszczyk
GRRIPP Thematic Lead on Infrastructure
Dr Hanna Ruszczyk is an urban geographer at Durham University’s Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience and the Department of Geography. Dr Ruszczyk investigates how people live their lives in academically overlooked small, regional cities of the global South. She is particularly interested in how gendered aspects of cities manifest themselves in creating and perpetuating risk.
Before academia, Dr. Ruszczyk worked for two United Nations agencies, the International Labour Office and the United Nations Development Programme. She has published in peer-reviewed journals of Area, Disasters, Environment & Urbanization and Urban Geography. Her 2019 co-edited digital magazine, Labouring Urban Infrastructure, is a collaborative creative experiment in thinking about feminism, the urban, infrastructure, and invisibility.
